Text Messaging Privacy Policy

Effective October 26, 2026

This policy covers the Citylight Reston Text Line, run by Wearecitylight, known as Citylight Church (Citylight Reston). The text line is operated on our behalf by Emberly, a service of WintelAI LLC.

What we collect

Your mobile number; anything you choose to tell us, such as your name, email or questions; the messages we exchange; and a record of when and how you agreed to receive texts or asked to stop.

How we use it

To answer your messages, send the follow-ups you signed up for, connect you with a person on our team when you need one, and keep a record of your texting choices. Some replies are written with the help of an AI assistant that uses only information Citylight Reston has approved.

Text messages

Message frequency varies: replies to your texts, plus up to 4 scheduled messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or text messaging opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

We use service providers only to run the text line: Twilio delivers messages, Anthropic provides the AI assistant, and Supabase and Vercel host the service. They may use your information only to provide that service to us. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Safety

If a message suggests someone may be in danger, a person on our team is alerted right away, and the reply includes how to reach 911 and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Your choices

Reply STOP to stop texts at any time. To see or delete the information we hold about you, contact us through info@wearecitylight.org. We keep conversation records while you're in touch with us and as long as needed to honor your texting choices. If you ask us to delete your information, we delete your conversations and contact details, with two exceptions: we keep a record of your texting consent and any opt-out (your number, the words you agreed to or sent, and when) for at least four years so we can keep honoring your choice, and we keep our log of what the AI assistant did, which can include details from your messages, so we can check how it behaved.

Children

The text line is not intended for children under 13.
